Russia's agricultural safety watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, banned imports of live poultry, hatching eggs, poultry meat, ready-made poultry products and all poultry products containing processed poultry from Cambodia starting Monday, August 3, according to TASS, which cited agency documents.
The agency named a worsening "epizootic situation" involving the Newcastle disease virus in Cambodia as the reason for the restrictions.
Exceptions to the ban
An exception applies only to goods treated in a way that destroys the Newcastle disease virus, in line with the World Organisation for Animal Health's Terrestrial Animal Health Code.
The restrictions also cover poultry feed and feed additives, used equipment for keeping, slaughtering and processing poultry, and finished animal-origin products in factory packaging carried by individuals in hand luggage or personal baggage.
Previous restrictions
Rosselkhoznadzor previously restricted imports of agricultural products from five exporters in Uzbekistan. Before that, starting in mid-May, the agency ran a campaign banning most imports from Armenian producers amid worsening relations between the two countries.
