Poco X8s launched globally with Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip

Smartphone manufacturer Poco has introduced the Poco X8s to the global market, launching a compact handset equipped with Qualcomm silicon and 100W fast charging.

The device joins the brand's X8 series with an entry price of 399 dollars for an 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage variant, while an upgraded 12 GB RAM and 512 GB configuration sells for 499 dollars.

Poco operates as an independent brand within the broader Xiaomi corporate ecosystem, having established its identity around offering higher-end processing specifications at competitive price points. The brand's X lineup specifically focuses on the mid-range segment of the international smartphone market, targeting consumers who seek flagship features such as rapid battery replenishment, multi-camera photography and high-refresh displays without the four-figure price tags typical of top-tier devices.

Compact display and symmetrical design

The Poco X8s features a 6.35-inch LTPO AMOLED display that provides 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness rating of 3,500 nits. Symmetrical borders measuring 1.18 mm wrap around all four edges of the glass, a design that increases the overall screen-to-body ratio while keeping the physical chassis compact.

Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide, commonly abbreviated as LTPO, is an advanced backplane technology used in premium AMOLED screens to vary refresh rates dynamically according to what appears on screen. By dropping refresh speeds during static viewing and raising them up to 120Hz for rapid scrolling and gaming, the display conserves battery life without sacrificing visual fluidity. A peak output of 3,500 nits ensures that text and media remain clearly visible even under direct sunlight.

Qualcomm processor and internal hardware

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor powers the internal architecture of the handset, manufactured on an advanced 4-nanometre process. The octa-core processor layout contains one 2.8 GHz Prime core dedicated to intensive tasks, four 2.4 GHz Performance cores, and three 1.8 GHz Efficiency cores engineered for lighter operations.

The handset runs on a 4nm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.

Buyers can select memory configurations reaching up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of built-in storage. The phone runs Xiaomi's HyperOS 3 software interface, which is built on Google's Android 16 operating system.

Qualcomm designs its Snapdragon 7 series mobile platforms to bring upper-tier computing and graphical capabilities to devices positioned directly below elite flagship models. The 4nm fabrication process places billions of microscopic transistors onto silicon chips, allowing greater operational throughput while minimizing power consumption and heat. HyperOS represents Xiaomi's unified operating system layer, designed to streamline software performance and enable seamless connectivity across phones, smart home accessories and connected consumer electronics.

Camera system and battery performance

On the photography side, the Poco X8s carries a triple-camera module on the rear panel centered on a 50 MP Light Fusion 800 primary sensor. The main camera is paired with a 50 MP telephoto lens and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. A 20 MP front-facing camera handles self-portraits and video calls.

The phone draws power from a 6,330 mAh battery supported by 100W wired fast charging. Biometric authentication is handled by an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, while an IP68 certification provides protection against water and dust intrusion.

An IP68 ingress protection rating signifies that a smartphone is fully sealed against harmful dust ingress and can withstand submersion in freshwater at designated depths without sustaining damage. Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors differ from conventional optical sensors by using high-frequency acoustic waves to map the three-dimensional ridges and valleys of an individual fingerprint, offering greater resistance to fraud and functioning reliably even when fingers are damp or oily.

Connectivity and global availability

Connectivity options on the new smartphone include 5G cellular network access, Wi-Fi 6 wireless networking and Near Field Communication, or NFC, support for mobile transactions and local device pairing. Poco offers the X8s in three exterior color choices: blue, black and white.

The Poco X8s is now available across international markets, giving buyers who favor smaller dimensions an option that combines high-capacity battery reserves with rapid wired charging and a multi-sensor camera array.
