The risk of an attack on Moldova now does not exist, the country has the necessary tools to ensure security. According to TASS with reference to the Agerpres agency, this was stated by the Moldovan Minister of Defense Anatoly Nosatii.
At the same time, the head of the military department claimed that “attempts to destabilize the situation, organized and led by the Russian Federation, have recently expanded.”
Referring to the situation in the unrecognized Transnistria, Nosatii said that “the government of the Republic of Moldova has all the tools to ensure security and order in the country.”
The minister said that Moldova’s defense budget had been significantly increased, “which made it possible to increase by about 70% the ability to purchase military equipment.” According to him, assistance from the EU in the amount of €40 million will soon be received, about half of which will go to the purchase of air defense systems.
Nosatii said that the country’s cooperation with NATO has recently deepened, but “as for the political side, accession, the current neutral status, enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, does not allow discussing this topic and, moreover, there must be the will of the people.”
