José Mourinho has moved back into the same luxury mansion in Madrid that he rented during his first spell as Real Madrid coach, Spanish media have reported. The Portuguese coach is paying 20,000 euros a month for the property.
Mourinho, 63, returned to Real Madrid this season and chose to live once again in the exclusive La Finca urbanisation in Pozuelo de Alarcón, on the outskirts of Madrid, where he had already lived between 2010 and 2013 during his first spell in charge of the club. La Finca is one of the most exclusive residential estates in the Spanish capital, long favoured by footballers, coaches and business figures for its privacy and tight security.
Inside the mansion
The house has 1,400 square metres of built area, set on a plot of more than 5,000 square metres. It is spread over two floors and a basement, connected by an internal lift, and features high ceilings, large windows and abundant natural light.
Outside, the property has large private gardens, several rest areas and a generously sized swimming pool.
A house built for work as well as living
The mansion also includes a room set aside for tactical meetings and video analysis, according to the Spanish press. Mourinho has fitted the house with a top-of-the-range sound system so that music can be heard in every room.
Access to the estate is tightly restricted, and the property itself has strict security in place, in keeping with the discreet, high-security character of La Finca as a whole.
Alejandro Sanz once lived there
Before Mourinho moved back in, the house had another well-known tenant: Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz. Sanz is one of the best-selling Spanish-language recording artists of his generation and a multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy winner, known for hits such as "Corazón Partío".
Mourinho's return to Real Madrid
Mourinho, previously the coach of Benfica, has returned to Real Madrid this season for a second spell in charge of the club. He first managed the Spanish giants between 2010 and 2013, a period during which he lived in the same La Finca property he has now chosen to rent again.
Real Madrid, based in the Spanish capital and playing their home matches at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, are among the most successful clubs in world football and the record holders for European Cup and Champions League titles. Mourinho himself is one of the most decorated coaches in the sport, having won league titles in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain over a career that has also taken in Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Roma and Fenerbahçe.
