Marc Anthony and Yandel will be honored as Agents of Change at the first edition of Premios Juventud held in Europe. TelevisaUnivision announced on Tuesday that both artists will receive the recognition for using their influence to promote social causes.
The ceremony will take place on September 3 at the Starlite amphitheater in Marbella, southern Spain, marking the first time the Latin music awards have been held in Europe.
Marc Anthony's charity work
For Marc Anthony, who is of Puerto Rican origin, the honor highlights the work of his foundation Maestro Cares, which has driven more than 35 projects for children and vulnerable communities in Latin America and the United States since 2012. The network also cited the benefit concert 'Unidos por Venezuela,' set for August 16 in Miami and led by the singer to support Venezuela's reconstruction after earthquakes.
Yandel's symphonic tour
Yandel, a former member of the duo Wisin & Yandel, will be recognized for the impact of his Yandel Sinfónico tour, which blends reggaeton with local orchestras in each city and brought together more than 250 musicians over nearly two years.
Both artists are also nominees this year: Marc Anthony in three categories and Yandel in two. The gala is part of PJ Fest, a new platform of events TelevisaUnivision is launching in Marbella, Miami, Houston and Los Angeles. Voting across the 50 categories runs through August 10, and the ceremony airs September 3 on Univision, UniMás, Galavisión, ViX, YouTube and, in Mexico, Canal 5.
