A lactose-intolerant Reddit user known as Sarcasmisart accidentally trapped his disabled colleague in a foul-smelling vehicle after eating a heavy dairy meal.
The motorist had consumed a dinner of pasta loaded with cheese and cream sauce the night before his morning commute. He explained online that he woke up feeling unwell, with an upset stomach and severe intestinal gas that smelled of rotten eggs.
Before leaving home, the driver attempted to use the bathroom to relieve his symptoms, but without success. He faced an hour-long journey to his workplace in freezing winter weather, keeping the car windows closed to avoid catching a cold.
To mask the smell, he coated himself in cologne and relied on a sweet air freshener inside the cabin. He recounted that the thick fumes felt as though they were taking up the entire passenger seat next to him.
Lactose intolerance is a common digestive condition where the body cannot properly break down lactose, a natural sugar found in milk and dairy products. Consuming items like cream and cheese can trigger uncomfortable symptoms, including severe bloating, stomach pain, and flatulence.
Meeting on the road
Just a couple of kilometres from the office, the driver spotted his colleague Carrie walking along the street. He described her as a lovely, generous, kind, and smiling person.
