Support for Sovereignty

The North Korean leader expressed firm confidence in Russia achieving victory in the defense of its state sovereignty, security interests, and territorial integrity. In his message, Kim wished Putin and Russia constant victory and glory, extending his congratulations on the significant date.

Putin celebrated his 74th birthday on October 7. Reports indicated that the Russian president planned to spend his birthday working on state affairs, maintaining a busy schedule that included conducting a series of international telephone calls with foreign leaders.

Diplomatic Alliances

Vladimir Putin serves as the President of Russia, governing the nation from the Kremlin in the capital city of Moscow. Kim Jong Un serves as the Supreme Leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, leading the country from Pyongyang. The Korean Central News Agency is the state news agency of North Korea, responsible for broadcasting official state declarations, government policy, and diplomatic correspondence.

Russia and North Korea share a land border in Northeast Asia along the Tumen River, with diplomatic ties between Moscow and Pyongyang dating back to the mid twentieth century. Both countries maintain formal embassies in Moscow and Pyongyang to facilitate ongoing diplomatic exchanges.

Reciprocal Greetings

The telegram from Kim follows an earlier greeting sent by Putin, who congratulated the North Korean leader on the 78th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. At that time, Putin noted that relations between Moscow and Pyongyang are traditionally based on friendship, good neighborliness, and mutual assistance.
