Greek actor Tasos Halkias has spoken out after his home was destroyed in a wildfire burning in Porto Germeno, saying the house represented years of personal toil and sacrifice.
Speaking on the morning programme Proini Enimerosi on Sunday, Halkias said the loss was not only material but also affected his mental and physical wellbeing. He added that working people earn everything they have through hard effort, and that his home had been a built achievement, nothing more.
Halkias said he had poured everything into building the house and that all of it had now gone to waste. He described the loss as deeply personal, saying it concerned his own toil, his own state of mind, his own health, and his body overall.
The actor also stressed that hundreds of other people find themselves in the same position, with his home being one of approximately 200 properties destroyed in the area.
