Fly2Galicia to start flights operated by Romanian FLYYO

Fly2Galicia will begin commercial operations on December 1 with an inaugural flight connecting Santiago de Compostela with Zaragoza, although the service will be physically operated by Romanian air carrier FLYYO rather than a Spanish airline.

The enterprise functions as a virtual airline and ticket reseller marketed by Aviation & Mobility Services Group, a company registered in Santiago de Compostela that contracts certified third-party flight operators.

According to general transport conditions published on the Fly2Galicia website, Aviation & Mobility Services Group was incorporated on January 26 with a social capital of one euro. The business is registered under travel agency activities and maintains its official address in Plaza de la Quintana in Santiago de Compostela. Its sole administrator and owner is Gueorgui Iavorov Popov, a Romanian national.

Santiago de Compostela is the regional capital of Galicia in northwestern Spain, served by Santiago Rosalia de Castro Airport. In commercial aviation, arrangements where a ticket brand markets flights while leasing aircraft and operational personnel from a certified airline are known as wet lease or charter agreements.

Wet Lease Contract With Romanian Operator

Fly2Galicia specified in its terms of carriage that it reserves the right to contract duly authorized air carriers to perform its flights. Transport conducted by FLYYO will operate under FLYYO's own conditions of carriage and a formal wet lease charter agreement.

Under the full-service lease model, the Romanian company provides the aircraft, complete flight and cabin crew, technical maintenance, and insurance policies. FLYYO holds its own Air Operator Certificate, an official authorization issued by civil aviation regulators allowing commercial passenger flights.

FLYYO specializes in charter flights and full leasing services, operating 180-seat Airbus A320-214 aircraft. Fly2Galicia plans to base one FLYYO aircraft at Santiago Rosalia de Castro Airport to handle its initial schedule.

Destinations, Pricing and Booking Details

The initial plan for Fly2Galicia contemplates connecting Santiago de Compostela with eight destinations across Spain and continental Europe, offering 17 weekly frequencies. The network includes domestic routes to Granada, Alicante, and Zaragoza, alongside international flights to Milan, Venice, Munich, Prague, and Brussels.

Fly2Galicia enabled its online booking portal on Tuesday of this week, allowing prospective passengers to consult frequencies, flight schedules, and fare prices in detail. The company stated that ticket sales will open very soon.

Promoters announced an aggressive launch pricing campaign starting at 19 euros for domestic flights to Granada, Alicante, and Zaragoza. Fares to Milan and Brussels will start at 39 euros, while tickets to Munich, Prague, and Venice will be available from 49 euros.

Fly2Galicia added that even its lowest ticket category will include two pieces of hand luggage per passenger, specifically an eight-kilogram cabin suitcase and one personal item.
