Changan Automobile held the public premiere of its CS55PLUS Blue Whale hybrid crossover at the Chengdu Motor Show in China. The new model serves as a hybrid version of the gasoline-powered Changan CS55 crossover, which is sold in Russia.
The vehicle has already gone on sale in China. It is available in four trim packages, with prices ranging between 80,000 and 104,000 yuan, or approximately 1.0 million to 1.35 million rubles.
Powertrain and fuel economy
The crossover features a hybrid powertrain built on Changan's proprietary iDE-H architecture. The system combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 150 horsepower with an electric motor generating 245 horsepower.
According to the manufacturer, fuel consumption in urban driving conditions is 3.89 litres per 100 kilometres. On a full tank of fuel, the vehicle can travel up to 1,500 kilometres.
Exterior design and dimensions
On the outside, the CS55PLUS Blue Whale differs from the gasoline version through a new frameless radiator grille with a V-shaped pattern. It also features modified daytime running lights and new five-spoke alloy wheels designed for improved aerodynamics.
The car measures 4,550 mm in length, 1,868 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height. It has a wheelbase measuring 2,656 mm.
Interior technology and cabin features
Inside the cabin, the vehicle is equipped with a 10-inch digital instrument display and a 14.6-inch media screen. The infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay, Carlink, Huawei HiCar, Honor Connect, a voice AI assistant, and navigation services from Amap and Baidu. A 50-watt wireless charger is provided for smartphones.
The seats are finished in Nappa leather, with heating and ventilation installed for the front seats. The front passenger seat also includes a massage function. Storage options include 23 separate compartments throughout the cabin, while luggage space varies from 475 to 1,415 litres.
Safety systems and driver assistance
Driver assistance and safety are handled by the TianShu Navigation suite. The package features full-speed adaptive cruise control, automatic lane changing, front and rear collision warnings, and an automatic emergency braking system.
Changan Automobile is one of China's major car manufacturers, headquartered in Chongqing. The annual Chengdu Motor Show in Sichuan province is among western China's largest automotive trade events, where domestic and international car makers showcase new models for the Chinese market.
