A 10 year old girl who caught public attention by singing outside Celine Dion's hotel in Paris has been surprised with a ticket to the Canadian singer's upcoming residency at the Plénitude Arena.
The young fan, named Kate, learned on camera that her mother had secured a place for her at one of the shows. Speaking to a reporter from French television network TF1, the girl said she was overwhelmed with emotion upon hearing the news.
Earlier in the week, the child was filmed singing beneath the windows of the Royal Monceau hotel, where Dion has been staying. Following the surprise reveal, she listed her dream setlist for the concert, hoping to hear French language hits such as Pour que tu m'aimes encore, J'irai ou tu iras and Destin, as well as the English language track I'm Alive. She then sang for the camera again.
Despite her young age, the upcoming concert will mark the third time she has seen the star perform live, having attended two shows when she was much younger.
Cross generational appeal
The child's enthusiasm highlights the enduring popularity of the singer across different age groups. Streaming platform Spotify noted that while listeners between the ages of 35 and 44 remain Dion's largest demographic, her recent return to the spotlight is resonating with younger generations. The platform added that her songs currently feature in more than 76 million user playlists worldwide.
Dion is a five time Grammy Award winner and one of the best selling music artists of all time. After achieving global stardom with the title track to the animated film Beauty and the Beast and the Titanic theme My Heart Will Go On, she pioneered the modern concert residency with a historic run of shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Residency details
Her new residency begins on Saturday, September 12, at the Plénitude Arena, a massive indoor stadium located in Nanterre on the western outskirts of Paris. The venue, formerly known as Paris La Defense Arena, is a multi purpose dome that serves as a major concert hall and the home ground for the Racing 92 rugby union team, making it one of the largest indoor event spaces in Europe.
Dion is scheduled to perform three concerts each week during the initial run, taking the stage on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The venue will hold more than 30,000 spectators for each evening performance. The initial block of shows concludes on October 17.
Following the autumn run, a further 10 concerts are already scheduled to take place at the same venue in May 2027.
