Alexander Smith, a self-proclaimed time traveler, has claimed that he was sent to the year 2118 as part of a secret experiment conducted by the Central Intelligence Agency.
Wearing a gray suit, a black tie, and a latex mask featuring an oversized nose and a bald head, Smith appeared in an interview to warn that "the world as we know it will change a lot."
The interview was originally published in 2018 on Apex TV, a YouTube channel known for broadcasting content about paranormal phenomena and futuristic claims. The video has recently resurfaced online, drawing renewed attention to his claims.
Smith has provided no evidence to support his statements, and there is no verification that he ever worked for the CIA, traveled through time, or visited the 22nd century.
The Central Intelligence Agency is the primary foreign intelligence gathering agency of the United States federal government. While speculative stories about secret government operations frequently circulate online, official records contain no mention of time travel initiatives.
Alleged CIA Recruitment and Secret Mission
According to Smith, his involvement with the agency began in 1981. At the time, he claimed he had already left the CIA and was working as a local carpenter.
Smith said he was sitting on the couch watching television with his wife when there was a knock at his door. When he answered, he found "two men dressed in black suits" who told him he had to come with them because they worked for the CIA.
"They told me to go with them, so I complied," Smith said, adding that he was forbidden from telling his wife where he was being taken.
Smith claimed he was driven away, blindfolded, and transported by helicopter to a secret underground military base. Upon arrival, a scientist showed him what was described as "a time machine" and informed him that he was "going to be the first test subject" in an experiment designed to push the boundaries of "space and time itself."
Smith alleged that the CIA possesses advanced technologies that remain hidden from the general public. He claimed the government routinely develops technology decades before public release, telling viewers: "The technologies that you're using right now, like smartphones, they were developed around 30 years prior to them actually being released."
Insisting that the public "deserves to know the truth" about hidden projects, Smith claimed the next century will bring more transformation than any other period in human history. He added that he decided to release his first video in 2018 to make himself known because the CIA was allegedly hunting him after his return from the future.
Predictions of World War Three and AI Rule
Describing his alleged journey to 2118, Smith claimed that humanity's future would be shaped by a global conflict that begins as a minor dispute.
"The country that I was part of, the United States of America, was in a conflict with North Korea and the conflict started off small," Smith said.
According to his account, the situation escalated after "Russia soon took the side of North Korea and tensions began to escalate and eventually missiles were fired." Although he did not specify where the missiles landed, he warned that "the effects were not what one may consider desirable."
Smith described the confrontation as what "some might describe as a Third World War." He claimed the resulting devastation caused global society to change, leading to a future where "the world began to become one" and "borders began to become meaningless."
Following the war, Smith alleged that humans developed "a love and appreciation for life" that discouraged violence. When he asked who was leading the world in 2118, he was told there was "only one leader of this one world."
Smith claimed that leader was an artificial intelligence system that governed humanity better than any human leader could. He said the system maintained "peace, safety, technological advancement and all of the other great things that could benefit our lives as humans."
Although initially skeptical of machine governance, Smith said citizens in 2118 insisted that artificial intelligence was far better suited to governing society than human politicians.
Future Technology, Extraterrestrials and District 508
Beyond global politics, Smith described advanced societal features in 2118, including human-like robots that possessed the same legal rights as people. He claimed there was "no discerning" the robots from ordinary humans, except that they lacked legs and hovered several feet above the ground.
He also detailed a technological implant embedded beneath the skin of a robot's hand, which functioned as an all-in-one identification and payment device. "This is everything," Smith recalled being told, explaining that the device was used to verify identity and conduct financial transactions.
Smith predicted that time travel technology will be disclosed to the public "beginning in the year 2028" for both commercial and non-commercial uses. He added that 2028 is "the same year in which the government discloses the existence of intelligent extraterrestrials," claiming authorities have known about alien life for some time.
During his 2018 video, Smith displayed a blurry photograph of a futuristic city skyline, which he claimed to have taken during his trip. The image depicted green, oddly shaped buildings in a city unlike any in existence today.
"I have something to show you today. This picture was taken in the year 2118. This picture was the city I walked in," Smith said. "I'll never forget when I took that picture. It was right outside the city, before I had walked into it."
Smith described the metropolis, which he called "District 508," as having slanted skyscrapers with a bluish tint, flying vehicles moving between buildings, and a red sky overhead. He claimed the slight image distortion was caused by the time-travel process.
"That was a picture from the future which I was able to take back. There was only a minor amount of distortion on it that was caused by the time-traveling process," Smith said. "The Government confiscated the original photo, but before they took it from me, I did manage to make the copy I held before you."
Resurfaced videos of Smith continue to generate widespread discussion online, with viewers divided between skepticism of a potential hoax and interest in his detailed warnings of global war and secret technologies.
