Polish police detained an 18-year-old Ukrainian citizen in Wrocław suspected of stabbing a 30-year-old Polish woman on the evening of 1 August. Lower Silesian police said on platform X the case had been preliminarily classified as attempted murder.
The victim was taken to hospital. Whether the attacker and victim knew each other has not been established.
Witnesses told a TVP3 Wrocław correspondent that the suspect apparently followed the woman from a public transport stop to an apartment building entrance, where he stabbed her multiple times. A neighbor heard her screams and apparently scared the attacker into fleeing.
Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński confirmed the arrest on X, thanked officers for their swift response, and said there would be no leniency for criminals.
Aleksandra Freus, a spokesperson for Wrocław Municipal Police, told TVP.Info that the motive could not yet be disclosed and that prosecutors would determine the matter.
