The Colombian Police and the US Drug Control Administration (DEA) detained in Colombia in a joint operation 24 alleged members of the Clan del Golfo, the largest criminal organization in the country, of which ten have extradition orders to the US for drug trafficking.

Simanca, like many other members of the Clan del Golfo, including Dairo Antonio Úsuga, alias “Otoniel”, the leader of the gang captured last October, He belonged to the paramilitary United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia, specifically to the Héroes de los Montes de María Bloc, from which he demobilized in 2005, and from there he came to “Los Paisas”.

Along with Simanca, another 23 people who were under his command were also captured in the “Morgan” operation, which was carried out with raids and searches both in Bogotá and in the Caribbean cities of Cartagena, Santa Marta and Barranquilla, in the San Andrés archipelago. and Providencia, and in Cali.
The police reported that fourteen captured have been brought to justice in Colombia and the other ten were notified for extradition purposes, including “Don José”whose procedure is already in process.
They must respond to courts in New York and South Florida “for the shipment of approximately five tons of cocaine per month from San Andres and Cartagena to Central America with final destination in the United States and Europe,” the Police said in the statement.
“Otoniel”, the leader of the Clan del Golfo, was arrested on October 23 in an area of Urabá, and remains in Bogotá awaiting extradition to the United States.where he must answer before courts in New York and Florida for charges related to drug trafficking.
