The journalist who broke into a Russian news program with a ‘No to war’ sign explains her motives: “It’s a crime, and Russia is the aggressor”

Marina Ovsyannikova, the woman who broke into a Russian newscast to denounce the war in Ukraine, had previously explained his position against Putin’s invasion through social networks. “What is happening now in Ukraine is a crime, and Russia is the aggressor country. The responsibility for this aggression rests on the conscience of a single man, and that man is Vladimir Putin,” he assured in networks.

Ovsyannikova explained that her father is Ukrainian, and her mother Russian, and she was ashamed of having worked for years as an employee of Channel One and broadcasting “the propaganda” of the Kremlin.

Now the whole world has turned away from us and the next 10 generations of our descendants will not erase the shame of this fratricidal war”, she lamented before making the public gesture for which she has been arrested.

The Russian authorities have carried out a harsh crackdown on protesters who have rebelled against the war. According to OVD-Info, which monitors the protests and provides legal assistance to detainees, a total of 14,911 Russians have been arrested for standing in front of the Kremlin.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, thanked Ovsyannikova for his act: “I thank those Russians who do not stop trying to convey the truth. To those who fight against disinformation and tell the truth, the real facts to their friends and loved ones “, he asserted, referring personally “to the woman who entered the Channel One studio with an anti-war sign”. Call Yarmysh, spokesman for imprisoned Russian opponent Alexei Navalny, has also made reference to the journalist on his Twitter account: “wow that girl is great“.
