The fourth round of ‘difficult’ negotiations begins, according to Ukraine

The fourth round of videoconference negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to seek a peace agreement began on Monday with a communication that is “difficult”, announced Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office.

“The parties are actively expressing their positions, which have already been clarified. Communication is difficult, but it continues,” Podoliak, one of the Ukrainian representatives in these contacts, explained on his Twitter account.

According to the adviser to the president, Volodomir Zelenski, “the reason for the discrepancies” lies in the “very different” political systems that both countries have.

“Ukraine is a country that maintains free dialogue in society and binding consensus. Russia, in short, practices the suppression of its own society,” he added.

Russia has not yet reported the start of this round of negotiations, the fourth to be held, after the previous three that took place in person on Belarusian territory, near the border with Poland.

Before the start of this meeting, Kiev announced that it will again demand a ceasefire from Moscow and the withdrawal of all Russian troops from Ukrainian territory.

“The positions of the Ukrainian delegation before the fourth round of negotiations with Russian representatives on Monday remain unchanged, and Kiev will above all demand a ceasefire and the withdrawal of all Russian forces from Ukrainian territory,” Podoliak assured before the start. . (I)
