The left-wing Colombian presidential candidate Gustavo Petro leads the voting intention for the elections next May in which he would prevail over all the other candidates, according to a survey released this Friday.

If the elections for president of Colombia today, 44.6% would choose Petro, candidate of the left-wing coalition Historical Pact, while 15% would vote for Sergio Fajardo, one of the candidates of the Hope Center Coalition, according to a poll of the firm Invamer for Blu Radio, Caracol Television and the newspaper El Espectador.

In third place would be the independent Rodolfo Hernández, with 13.1%; In fourth would be the former mayor of Medellín Federico Gutiérrez, pre-candidate of the right-wing coalition Team for Colombia (8.7%), and in fifth, Óscar Iván Zuluaga, of the Democratic Center party, currently in power (8.4%).

Íngrid Betancourt, candidate of the Oxygen Green party, is in sixth place in voting intentions with 6.2%, according to the survey.

In direct confrontations with any of his rivals, Petro would come out the winner in all of them, adds the study.

Colombians will go to the polls next Sunday to elect the members of the Senate, the House of Representatives and the 16 seats of the victims of the armed conflict in the House, and there will also be consultations that day in which the candidates of the three coalitions.

The first round of the presidential elections will be held on May 29 and if a second round is necessary, it will be held on June 19.

FAVORITES IN QUERIES

The Invamer survey also collects possible scenarios for coalition consultations.

In the case of the Historical Pact, Petro would prevail with ease, with 78.6%, followed by the Afro-Colombian social leader Francia Márquez with 13.5%, and by the former governor of Nariño Camilo Romero, with 5.9%. .

In the Centro Esperanza Coalition, Sergio Fajardo leads the voting intention with 37.8%, ahead of former senator Juan Manuel Galán (23.9%) and former Boyacá governor Carlos Amaya (14.9%).

Former Health Minister Alejandro Gaviria is in fourth place with 12.9%.

Meanwhile, in the Team for Colombia coalition, the favorite in the survey is Federico Gutiérrez, with 28.9%, followed by former mayors Alex Char, from Barranquilla, with 24.7% and Enrique Peñalosa, from Bogotá, with the 18.7%, and in fourth place comes Senator David Barguil, with 15.5%. EFE
