Sergei Shoigu, Putin’s defense minister who holds the second code for nuclear bombs

The man most loyal to Putin is Sergei Shoigu, one of his ministers. Who has begun to make logistical errors that impact the image of an army that was believed to be infallible. He is one of three men with codes for a nuclear-armed action. He is the one who applies without discussing any order.

Shoigu, the son of a Ukrainian mother, was born on May 21, 1955 in Tuvanwhere his father was from, near Mongolia. The importance of this place lies in its cultural richness and natural beauty, which attracted Putin to spend moments of rest there and what would have strengthened his ties and sympathies with Shoigu.

The now general graduated from a Polytechnic Institute in Siberia with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1977, he then rose through the ranks of the construction industry to become an executive.

In 1998 he joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Unionwhere he forged his political career in Moscow during the 1990s, especially as Minister of Civil Protection. He was subsequently promoted to defense minister in 2012 when Putin returned to the presidency.

Meanwhile, Putin’s opponent, Alexei Navalny, head of the Russian Anti-Corruption Foundation and now a political prisoner, he participated in an investigation for shady dealings that revealed that Shoigu secretly owns an 18 million dollar mansion on the outskirts of Moscow. He published it under the title ‘The Most Courteous Palace’.

Conflict with Ukraine

On the seventh day of the Russian offensive, the invasion of the Kremlin begins to reflect serious logistical problems, while the Ukrainians try to strengthen themselves.

In the Kremlin certain gestures of Shoigu begin to disturb. A broadcast showed the Russian president making remarks in which he condemned the sanctions and ordered the country to put its nuclear forces on alert. An image from a huge table where Putin dictates his claims.

In that Security Council, in a meeting with the head of the Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, and Shoigu, frictions began to be reported. It was the defense minister who drew attention.

As the mishaps of the Russian military are exposed, Shoigu’s discomfort at that encounter was noted. The logistical errors of the army with problems to prevail over a weaker one in the first week of the invasion increase this possible malaise. (I)
