Ten dead and five missing after mining explosion in Colombia

An explosion occurred on Saturday in a mine in the Colombian department of Boyacá (center) left 10 dead and five missingaccording to the latest report from the authorities, published this Sunday.

The National Mining Agency (ANM) explained that the accident occurred in the La Chapa mine, in the municipality of Tasco, and that the preliminary report is from “10 fatalities and 5 missing.”

“We continue at the scene of the emergency, with uninterrupted search actions and rescue of the five disappeared miners”, added the organization in its social networks.

In that sense, relief agencies work at the scene of the accidentthe Mining Rescue team of the municipality of Nobsa (Boyacá), the National Police and the firefighters.

This accident happens just a few days after the authorities rescue the lifeless bodies of five miners who died in an explosion in the Carbodiamante mine in the municipality of Samacá, also in Boyacá.

The accident occurred on February 4, as detailed then by the ANM, for “An explosion of methane gas and coal dust that affected five workers who were underground and who lost their lives due to the flame wave, pressure wave and high concentrations of carbon monoxide that were generated.”. (I)
