Residents of a village on the island of Sulawesi, in the central region of Indonesia, have found the corpse of a woman inside a pythonthe second such incident in that area of ​​the Asian archipelago in a month.

The victim, of 38 yearswas found by neighbours in the town in the province of Luwu, in southern Sulawesi, when her husband reported her disappearance after they had both left on their way to their home, although the man did so a few minutes earlier, according to a statement from the local authorities.

Neighbors found the python in the area where the woman had disappeared on her way home, and immediately suspected that it might have devoured the woman, as its stomach was swollen, the report said. “Finally, after cutting open the snake, they found the lifeless body of the woman”the text says, adding that the woman was later buried near her home.

The statement specifies that this is a reticulated python (Malayophython reticulatus), considered the longest snake in the world, reaching up to 8 meters and 250 kilograms, which usually suffocates its victims with its body before swallowing them.
