Polish Payment Standard, the operator of the Blik system, published its financial report for 2023 at the end of June. It announced, among other things, the development of a service enabling Blik cash deposits by customers of any bank in any cash deposit machine – the website reports.
Blik will introduce a new interesting service
The PSP document shows that the company is working on making the deposit function available to other device operators and banks. “Ultimately, the solution is to operate in such a way that the Blik deposit service has full so-called interoperability on the Polish market,” we read.
Cash deposits into ATMs using the Blik code (without using a card) are already possible in many banks operating on the Polish market. These include: BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, ING, Millennium, Nest Bank, Pekao, PKO BP and VeloBank. However, currently, customers can usually only deposit cash in ATMs that belong to a given bank.
Blik is preparing new features. Apple users will benefit “Nobody in Europe has done this”
Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, president of the Polish Payment Standard, announced in May in an interview with the portal that PSP plans to launch so-called recurring payments in 2024. The user of the banking application will be able to make payments “in the background” to pay bills, for example, without having to provide a card number. It is enough that a standard BLIK code is generated during the first of such transactions.
– We want to offer banks the possibility of contactless payments also on devices with the Apple system. Currently, Blik is available on any Android, because iPhones are a very closed ecosystem. No one in Europe has done this so far, and we are “entering” it with Blik in 2024, while still being involved in changes in European regulations – said Dariusz Mazurkiewicz.
