Russia would have launched an attack with drones and missiles on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure

From the capital of Ukraine, kyiv, the Ukrainian armed forces have reported an attack by Russia against the country’s energy infrastructure. According to Ukrainian authorities, this attack included the launch of 99 drones and missiles that hit multiple regions of the country, in a large-scale assault that has triggered air strike alerts throughout the territory.

The Ukrainian Minister of the Interior, Ihor Klymenko, reported that the Russian offensive has so far impacted 10 different regions of Ukraine. This attack comes amid rising tensions between the two countries, with Russia apparently responding to recent airstrikes by Ukraine in the Russian border region of Belgorod.

One of the main targets of the attack was energy infrastructure, with thermal and hydroelectric plants being deliberately hit in central and western Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the Kaniv and Dniester power plants were affected, warning of possible environmental and security consequences for other countries, including Moldova.

In addition to the damage to the energy infrastructure, the attack left a number of human victims. Five people were injured, including a five-year-old girl, in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Tragically, a man lost his life in another subsequent attack.

The scope of the conflict has extended beyond Ukraine’s borders, with impacts on neighboring countries. The Polish Armed Forces deployed aircraft in response to the bombing in western Ukraine, while Romania has launched an investigation after drone fragments were found on its territory.

In the midst of these events, the Russian region of Belgorod has also been attacked, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. It is reported that the remains of Ukrainian projectiles caused damage to residential buildings, although no fatalities were reported.

This new episode of escalation in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine reinforces concerns about security and stability in the region, while the international community observes the evolution of events with growing concern.
