At least four students were injured this Thursday in an attack with knife registered in an institute in the city of Wuppertal, near Dusseldorf, western Germany.
Police in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia have indicated that the main suspect in the attack, who is also a student at the Wilhelm Dorpfeld High School, has been found also injured and is in custody.
“The building has already been cleared. The students are safe and are being cared for,” the Police have previously stated in a message broadcast through the social network parents after a “large scale operation which has served to successfully evacuate the center.
Likewise, they have indicated that the incident was recorded around 10:00 in the morning (local time) and they have ruled out having have to open fire during the operation. In addition, they have guaranteed that the area is secured.
Emergency services have traveled to the area to treat the injured, while the security forces have opened an investigation into the matter. The age and severity of the injured are unknown at this time.
