Zenit removed football player Mario Fernandez from the application for the 2023/2024 RPL season
St. Petersburg Zenit removed defender Mario Fernandez from the team’s application for the remainder of the 2023/2024 Russian Premier League (RPL) season. This was reported on the league website.
The 33-year-old footballer joined the blue-white-blue squad in the summer of 2023. His contract was for one year. The defender played 15 matches for the blue-white-blues without scoring any goals.
In October 2023, it became known that the football player was worried about knee problems. It was noted that, most likely, Fernandez will not need surgery, but he may not take the field until the end of the season.
From 2012 to 2022, Fernandez played for CSKA Moscow, after which he took a break from his career. Since 2017, Fernandez has been involved in matches for the Russian national team. Together with the team, he reached the quarterfinals of the 2018 World Championship.
