The weapons were acquired through negotiations with members of the Gulf Clan, the largest criminal and drug trafficking gang in the country.
Colombian authorities detained in Bogotá four people, including a former police officer, who were part of a criminal network that sold weapons to the FARC dissidents, the Prosecutor’s Office reported this Saturday.
Those captured were charged by the aggravated conspiracy offenses, in competition with the illegal use of uniforms and insignia, said the Prosecutor’s Office in a statement.
The defendants did not accept the charges and, by order of a guarantee control judge, they must comply with an assurance measure in a prison.

The investigation made it possible to establish that the network was supposedly in charge of supplying weapons and other items of restricted use to the dissidents of the first front of the FARC, which commit crimes in the departments from Meta and Guaviare.
The weapons that the band supplied to the guerrillas were pistols, machine guns, grenade launchers and rifles. These were stored in Bogotá, from where their shipment was coordinated, through parcels and public service buses, to Meta and Guaviare.
