The Peruvian Government expressed its regret for the deaths and serious damage caused in Valparaíso and surrounding areas due to the fires forestry in Chili.
“Peru expresses its regret and solidarity to the people and Government of Chile for the victims and serious damage caused by the fires currently in Valparaíso and surrounding areas. Likewise, it expresses its willingness to support and cooperate in the face of this serious situation.”wrote Chancellery in his “X” account last Saturday.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that it is available to provide support to the Chilean authorities, as well as cooperation in the face of this serious situation.
“Peru conveys its condolences to the families of the victims and its wishes for a speedy recovery to all those affected by this incident,” he added.

There are no deceased Peruvians
The Foreign Ministry also indicated that it has visited the affected area in Chili and no Peruvian fatalities have been recorded as a result of the fires.
“Given the forest fires in Valparaíso and surrounding areas, the Consulate General of Peru in Santiago, in coordination with the Foreign Ministry, has visited the affected area to learn about the situation of fellow residents”he indicated.
“Our Consulate reports that there are no Peruvian fatalities”I note.
On the other hand, the institution indicated that it is monitoring the situation in the neighboring country in order to evaluate any form of cooperation.
“Likewise, it continues to be in permanent contact with the associations of Peruvian residents and local authorities to monitor the situation and evaluate specific forms of support for the compatriots who are affected,” the statement ended.
