Politicians of the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD)second in voting intention surveys, participated in a meeting in which They addressed plans to expel millions of foreigners from the countryas revealed this Wednesday by the investigative media Correctiv.

In an investigation that has been echoed by the main German media, Correctiv uncovered that in November a meeting organized by influential figures of the extreme right took place in Potsdam, near Berlin.

According to various sources, the Austrian was at the center of the event. Martin Sellnerconsidered one of the leaders of the far-right Identity Movementwhich presented a “master plan” to achieve what certain extremist factions call “remigration”, i.e. the ethnic cleansing of the nation from foreign elements.

Sellner even mentioned the possibility of moving up to two million people to territories in North Africa, in cooperation with a third state in the region.

The Afd stands out

After learning the information, the party has come out to distance itself from this plan, which would be illegal, on the other hand, but it has acknowledged the presence at said meeting of its leader’s personal assistant, deputy Alice Weidel. Others present were MP Gerrit Huy and the head of the Saxony-Anhalt regional parliamentary group, Ulrich Siegmund.

Although the AfD does not officially advocate the expulsion of people who are in Germany legally or of the German population with foreign roots, the politicians of this party who attended the meeting expressed their approval in the face of the plans addressed, according to eyewitnesses.

According to “Correctiv”, the revelations could contribute to fueling the ongoing debate in Germany about a hypothetical banning of the AfD, since the ideas debated are outside the scope of the constitution. EFE
