Identified as David K.. That’s what it’s called 24 year old young man perpetrator of the mass shooting in the heart of Prague. Now, new police investigations point to him as suspected of killing a baby and a man in another shooting last week. The ballistic result shows that the weapon used in that attack matches one of the weapons found in the house where the attacker lived. The bodies were found in a nearby forest, just 40 minutes by car from the capital.
Around 3:00 p.m. yesterday David, gun in hand, unleashed panic in the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Prague. Terrified, the students ran to get away from the crime scene. Many were trapped inside the building and had to barricade themselves in the classrooms to protect themselves. Others saw no other way of escape and salvation than to go out through the windows and cling with all their strength to the ledge of the façade.
This shooting, the largest attack in the country’s history, has left 14 dead, including the attacker, and about twenty injured. According to the authorities, David would have committed suicide after committing the massacre. He also allegedly killed his father a few hours before carrying out the attack at Carolina University. It seems like he had it all planned. In a Telegram channel, which he created days before the shooting, he would have expressed his desire to carry it out. According to his classmates, he was a quiet and introverted boy.
At this morning’s press conference, the Police highlighted that, if it had not been for their quick intervention, the victims could have been many more. They have also ruled out that this crime is related to international terrorism, and suggest that David acted alone.
The Czech Republic is one of the countries in the European Union with the most permissive gun legislation.
