Figure skater Valieva won the short program at the Russian Championships in Chelyabinsk
Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva won the short program at the Russian Championships in Chelyabinsk. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
The athlete received 81.85 points for her performance. Adelia Petrosyan took second place with 79.06 points. Sofia Muravyova took third place with 78.33 points.
The skater’s free program will be shown on December 23. The tournament will start at 15:00 Moscow time.
On November 10, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) completed hearings on Valieva’s case. The court announced that the final decision in the athlete’s case will be made in January 2024.
At the 2022 Olympic Games, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to the doping scandal involving her. Traces of a prohibited drug were found in the skater’s sample from December 2021.
