Transformers, ships and soon Messi’s shirt adorn the “cholets” in Bolivia

Houses with designs of Transformers, ships and UFOs are displayed on the peculiar facades of the “cholets”, extravagant buildings in a city of Boliviawhere a structure in the shape of the Argentine national team’s shirt will soon be displayed. Lionel Messiwill be about 30 meters and built with glass and aluminum.

In the city of El Alto, adjacent to La Paz, an orange landscape can be seen due to its bare brick buildings in which the famous “cholets” stand out, buildings that are characterized by the vibrant colors on their facades, their party rooms and a superimposed “chalet” type house where the owners live, considered rich in the Aymara ethnic group.

Many of the new constructions evolved and left aside the “chalet” house and in its place have put boats, for example, and even changed the colorful paint to display large statues of movie characters on their facades with the aim of being different. .”

The initial idea was to do something different, something that distinguishes us, something that had not been done before and I believe that the ship was the means to do this,” Víctor Choque told EFE. Choque is the owner of the “Crucero de Los Andes” or also known as the “Andean Titanic”, a seven-level building, where a large four-story ship stands on top from where you can see the city of El Alto, as if the building itself were sailing over the city at more than 4,000 meters above the sea level.

The imposing building sports a party room that does not skimp on LED lights and combined green, orange and red colors. On the highest floors there is a hotel with details of the pre-Hispanic culture of Tiahuanaco that will soon be inaugurated.

There is also a gym and a restaurant inside the ship. The owner, a merchant, noted that he is “proud” of his building that is “breaking paradigms” and that, in some way, contributes to highlighting the peculiarity of the city’s architecture. from El Alto.

Walking through the streets of this city you can see houses with large statues on the facades of Transformers characters such as the villain Megatron or the hero Bumblebee, made of fiberglass and measuring about eight meters.

Half of a “Statue of Liberty” is also seen adorning a façade, while in another construction there is a UFO imitating a crash on the top floor of the building.

Ramiro Sirpa is in charge of making most of these statues and told EFE that he works for months to finish one of his works. He now makes a 12-meter Christ the Redeemer, an “Egyptian god” of almost four meters and a seven-meter virgin for the “cholets.”

Messi’s CholetCreativity in El Alto has no limits and proof is the project of Bolivian architect Iván Ferrer, who is working on building a 10-story building with Lionel Messi’s Argentina national team jersey made of aluminum on its façade. composite and glass that will be about 30 meters high.

Ferrer told EFE that he will also take the hexagonal shapes of the soccer ball to replicate them in the upper part of the façade, where there will be a World Cup about eight meters high made of fiberglass and aluminum.

The owners of the building are “fans” of the “scaloneta” and together with Ferrer they determined that this was a good way to honor the world champions. Ferrer pointed out that the building will have a party room whose theme will be one of the best “ ten” from Latin America such as Diego Armando Maradona, the Colombian Carlos el Pibe Valderrama, among others, will also have a restaurant and a soccer field with synthetic grass.”

There are people who already want to book in the new football party room. There is a lot of expectation,” commented Ferrer.

The work has already begun and it is expected that in a couple of years it will be ready for its inauguration. Some fans want to donate t-shirts and other objects to be part of the “ten” building.
