The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, assured this Tuesday that the diplomatic crisis with Israel is settled and that it has become clear that “Spain has a very clear line that is not going to change” on the conflict in the Middle East. In statements to ‘Telecinco’, Albares has also warned that “Spain is not going to tolerate new statements” about his alleged support for a terrorist organization launched by the Israeli authorities.

The minister explained that on Monday he spoke with the Israeli ambassador in Spain, to whom he stressed that “the completely false words from the president of Israel towards the President of the Government are unacceptable for us and they cannot be reproduced again“.

Furthermore, he reminded him of Spain’s position “from the first minute”: “The absolute rejection of the attack by a terrorist organization such as Hamas and solidarity with the victims, two of them Spanish” and the demand that the hostages be released “immediately and unconditionally.”

“Spain’s voice is not going to be reduced one bit; we are going to continue requesting a ceasefire that is as broad as possible and a definitive solution that includes the recognition of a Palestinian state“, he said before emphasizing that “that does not take away one bit of strength from our condemnation of the terrorist attack.”

Albares has considered that “There is no need to expand on this any further.“because “our position has been made clear” and the Government will always be “among those who build peace” and work so that “this time is the last time we see a cycle of violence in the Middle East.”

Albares announced on Friday that he was going to summon the Israeli ambassador after Israel announced that it was going to do the same with the Spanish ambassador in Tel Aviv following Pedro Sánchez’s statements on his tour of the Middle East, which The Israeli Government called it “support for terrorism” of Hamas.
