USA: Ford will review Explorer model vehicles for defects in their rear axle

ford will call for review in USA 238,364 vehicles of the SUV Explorer SUV model due to a defect that can cause the drive shaft to disconnect.

In documents published this Friday on the website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the company indicated that the breakage of a rear axle mounting bolt can cause the disconnection of the rear axle. transmission.

Disengagement causes loss of rear wheel traction or shifting of the vehicle if parked without the parking brake, which can lead to accidents.

There are some 238,364 affected Ford Explorers from the years 2020 to 2022 produced at the Chicago (USA) assembly plant.

Ford has begun notifying its dealers about the defect so they can replace the defective components free of charge. The owners will be informed of the recall starting November 6.

The announcement comes after NHTSA launched an investigation after receiving two complaints from owners. The vehicles suffered driveshaft disconnection even though their software had been updated in a previous recall to prevent their movement when parked.
