US government resumes direct deportations to Venezuela: high-ranking official

The President’s Government Joe Biden is restarting deportations to Venezuela of the immigrants who illegally cross the border with Mexico, a senior US official said on Thursday. USA, in an effort to reduce the income of people.

Biden has faced a historic number of illegal border crossings, fueled by a sharp increase in recent years of migrants fleeing economic and political turmoil in Venezuela.

“This once again demonstrates our commitment to imposing consequences on those who cross the border illegally.”, a high-ranking official told the press. The new policy is effective immediately.

Hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans have crossed the treacherous jungle region known as the Darien Gap to reach the US-Mexico border over the past two years.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the measure was “direct consequence of the fact that these people have not taken advantage of the legal avenues that we have created and expanded” to allow people to stay.

The Biden Administration has launched a program that grants humanitarian parole to Venezuelans who request it from abroad and have American sponsors.

Last month, Washington said it would grant temporary relief from deportation and access to work permits to nearly half a million Venezuelans already in the country at the end of July.

Cold diplomatic relations between Washington and Caracas had made it difficult to deport Venezuelans to their country of origin. U.S. officials said they could not discuss specific discussions with Venezuela about why they agreed to the deportations.

In Caracas, the Venezuelan communications ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
