Daniel Sancho is already locked up between the bars of the Koh Samui prison in Thailand. This will be the new day-to-day life of the hitherto chef, who thus changes his luxurious hotel for a prison whose conditions are extremely harsh. After confessing to the crime of Edwin Arrieta, the Spaniard has been in an isolation module since Friday, fulfilling the ten days of protocol for coronavirus.

Until his trial is held, the Spanish cook will be held in this prison. Located on a small island in the north of Thailand, this prison quadruples its inmate capacity. Prisoners who have been there say it is not as friendly as the authorities claim. They admit that it is a real hell where the lights never go out.

“I spent the whole time there with my legs in the toilet, other inmates’ feet in my face. The width of my space was about 14 inches. There were moments in the cell when you couldn’t extend your legs because it was so full“, has admitted one of the people who has been to Koh Samui. One of them also explains that the food was really bad. Although those who have money asked for food outside.

“It’s a disgusting-looking rice and the broth is smelly with some bones,” they say. The cells are tiny, where up to 40 prisoners can be crowded together, they only have one bathroom.
