Meanwhile, the firemen make spartan efforts to evacuate affected areas. And some even get to kneel and pray to the heights to convince the reluctant, especially older people.

The flames haunt houses and farms, when they do not take them full or even catch the occasional reporter. The authorities insist: conditions remain difficult, even critical in areas.

The hand-to-hand battle continues from Attica to the Island of Rhodes. Firefighters try to stop the devastation and avoid victims. Many outbreaks are considered content because the temperatures have taken a breather, but the heat returns in a few hours and with it it is feared that they will get out of control again.
