Three Students Killed, Six Injured in Michigan High School Shooting

The alleged perpetrator, who is also a student at that high school, was arrested and a pistol was seized after the shooting.

Three students were killed and six other people, including a teacher, were injured when a 15-year-old boy opened fire Tuesday at a high school in the northern United States, local police announced.

The alleged perpetrator, who is also a student at that high school, was arrested and a handgun was seized after the shooting, said Michael McCabe of the Oxford police in Michigan.

“There was no resistance during the arrest and the suspect has requested a lawyer,” the Oakland County, Michigan sheriff’s office said in a statement, stating that the young man also “has not given any statement of motive.”

“It is a very tragic situation (…), we have many upset parents,” McCabe told Fox News television.

The shooting happened in Oxford, a small town about 40 miles north of Detroit.

Police said they received more than 100 emergency calls to 911 shortly after noon, and that the shooter fired between 15 and 20 shots during about five minutes with a semi-automatic pistol, with more than one magazine of ammunition.

The suspect was taken into custody within five minutes of the first 911 call, according to authorities. (I)
