A young student of a school located in the north of Paraná, in southern Brazil, has died after being shot by a former colleague. The suspect, who has been arrested, also seriously injured another teenager.
The shooting took place at the Professor Helena Kolody College, in the municipality of Cambé. The Military Police have reported that early in the morning, the alleged attacker, a 21-year-old former student, went to the center with the excuse of collecting some documentss, when he fired the shots.
In addition to the fatality, whose age has not yet been revealed, another 16-year-old was seriously injured after being shot in the head, tells the news portal G1. The Government of Paraná has decreed an official mourning of three days throughout the state.
For his part, the Brazilian president, Lula da Silva, has lamented that hatred and violence They have taken another young life. “It is urgent to build together a path of peace for schools”, she said.
