Abel Ferreira has stood out at the helm of the palm trees and caught the attention of clubs from different countries that were interested in signing him. Recently, the Portuguese coach allegedly received a proposal from Al Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, according to ESPN.
The Saudi team’s offer would revolve around 20 million euros a year for two seasons, but would have been rejected by the coach’s staff. In addition to Al Hilal, Abel Ferreira would have received a proposal from Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s team, last month.
The interest of clubs from other countries in having the Palmeiras coach did not arise now. In July 2021, Abel Ferreira admitted that Turkey’s Fenerbahçe approached him and made him an offer of 2.5 million euros to get him out of Brazilian football.
“It wasn’t a poll, it was really an offer. I was offered 2.5 million euros (about R$ 15 million) for me to leave Palmeiras”, said Abel Ferreira in a press conference.

According to the newspaper L’Equipe, PSG director Luís Campos evaluates the Portuguese compatriot very well, but did not seek Abel Ferreira directly to formalize a possible interest.
However, Nice, from France, made contact with the coach’s staff and probed Abel Ferreira as a target for the team’s command, according to journalist André Hernan, from UOL. According to the French vehicle RMC Sportthe Portuguese coach has a profile that pleases the club’s board.
“People have to talk to me, you know. What they say to the press, for me… I have a contract with the club, I’m where I want to be, I’m where they want me to be and that’s what worries me. It’s here, now and my club, which in this case is Palmeiras, where I have my players”, declared Abel Ferreira when asked about Nice’s interest, in April.
Hired in 2020, Abel Ferreira has already completed more than 200 games for Palmeiras and has a link with the club alviverde until the end of 2024, where he has already won two Copa Libertadores, a Campeonato Brasileiro, a Copa do Brasil, two Campeonatos Paulistas and the cups of Supercopa do Brasil and Recopa Sudamericana.
