The US and Russia went from the Cold War to the hot war, according to Vice Chancellor Riabkov

United States and Russiapassed by” by the Cold War and are now going through a stage of a hybrid “hot war”, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Riabkov said today.

“I think we are past this period” of the Cold War, he told the Russian radio station Sputnik, noting that “now we are in a phase of hot conflict with the United States”.

“We observe a direct involvement of this State in a hybrid war against Russia on different fronts”, he added.

According to Riabkov, this war takes forms that are unprecedented at times and that “they simply did not and could not exist in the Cold War era”, and regretted that the issue of the nuclear threat is now coming to the fore again.

“It is a difficult situation. I stress that the Russian side fully adheres to the well-known postulates that we have repeatedly stated in recent times, including at the highest level, that there can be no victors in a nuclear war and it cannot be unleashed.”, he added.

However, he claimed that “the totally unhinged and provocative way our American opponents are fueling the escalation, the extent to which they are blinded by their totally absurd and unfounded faith in the ability to strategically defeat Russia, forces us to doubt their sanity”.

“It is about playing with fire, in the direct sense of the word”, he alerted.

The United States must understand, Riabkov said, that in the face of attacks against Russian sovereignty, territorial integrity and the state system, Moscow will be ready to use all the means at its disposal for its defense.

“Underestimating our decision can be the worst thing that could happen in the heads of our opponents. We alert you against fatal errors”, he concluded.

The day before, the top Russian diplomat claimed that relations with the United States had collapsed and criticized Washington for trying to inflict on Russia a “strategic defeat” in various fields.
