Zenit player Malcolm, who received a Russian passport, allowed the transition to the European team
Naturalized Brazilian striker “Zenith” Malcolm thought about leaving the club. His words are quoted by Relevo.
The striker allowed the transition to the European team after the end of the 2022/2023 season. “My numbers are very good, and now I can think of a new opportunity to return to the leagues whose clubs play in European competition,” said the athlete.
Earlier it became known that Malcolm changed his citizenship and received a Russian passport. The footballer, who has been playing for Zenit since 2019, together with the club became a three-time champion of Russia, won the Russian Cup, and also won the Russian Super Cup three times. This season, he scored 19 goals in all competitions.
On February 28, 2022, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. Domestic teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team was deprived of the opportunity to compete for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
