Aerocivil affirms that Viva Air’s suspension of operations is because it failed to integrate into Avianca

Viva Air immediately suspended its operations and the Civil Aeronautics of Colombia assured that said cancellation is due to the integration process with Aviancawhich must now receive opinions from third parties, and has not come to fruition so far.

“It has been inspired by the processes of speed and efficiency of the administrative function and at all times the procedural terms have been strictly respected”, they said in a statement.

“The conditions offered by the intervening parties to mitigate the impact on free competition will be transferred in a timely and transparent manner to the recognized third parties interested in the action, who may express their opinions in this regard,” according to the entity.

Aerocivil affirms that the operation presented by the companies for authorization of the Civil Aeronautics was objected on November 4, 2022.

After an appeal, the Secretariat of the authority ordered the procedure to be redone under the competition rules on January 18, 2023.

“The Air Transport Directorate restarted the process on January 24, applying the procedure provided for in the aforementioned law, after ratification of the terms of the request by the parties involved at the time the information presented by third parties was received.”, he mentioned.

It also clarifies that press releases or posts on social networks are part of the experience.
