The world’s largest plane will fly again. Microsoft’s game will help rebuild it

Microsoft has released a new addition to Flight Simulator. The Ukrainian Antonov AN-225 “Mriya” will be available in the game, which was destroyed by the Russians during the ongoing war. Income from the sale of the add-on will be used to rebuild the largest plane in the world.

Antonov AN-225 “Mriya” (ukr. ) was the world’s largest and at the same time one of the symbols. The machine was destroyed right at the beginning of hostilities with Russia – exactly on February 27, 2022. This happened during the attack of troops on the airport in Hostoml near Kiev.

The giant Antonov was 84 meters long, with a wingspan of 88.4 meters and over 18 meters high. The aircraft was powered by as many as six Progress D-18T engines and could lift up to 250 tons of cargo. Its hold would fit the fuselage of a Boeing 737 – the world’s most popular airliner. Even though it was destroyed, it’s not the end of its story.

In November last year, information appeared that the second largest plane in the world – the new “Mriya” – is being built in a secret place. According to media reports, the machine will contain parts of the aircraft destroyed by the Russians. The cost of building the new unit is estimated at EUR 500 million. He wants to add his two cents to its reconstruction.

This plane is to appear in Microsoft Flight Simulator, which is about piloting various aircraft. “Mriya” will be available as a paid add-on. “This awe-inspiring aircraft is available in-game for PC for $19.99, with all proceeds going towards rebuilding the An-225,” it said. The aircraft will be available in six color variants.

The industry portal describes that “Mriya” is reproduced in the game as faithfully and meticulously as other planes. The position is famous for its realistic recreation of machines. In the Polish version, the add-on costs PLN 70.
