Macron will go to China in April and welcomes effort on the conflict in Ukraine

President French, Emmanuel Macronannounced on Saturday that he will travel to China “in early April” and called Beijing to “help put pressure on Russiafor “stop the aggression” to Ukraine and “build peace”.

“The fact that China is committed to peace efforts is very good,” highlighted the French president, the day after China published a document calling for talks in search of a “political solution” of the conflict in Ukraine.

Macron considered that this peace “It is only possible if it includes the end of Russian aggression, the withdrawal of troops and respect for the territorial sovereignty and the Ukrainian people.”

The French president has asked China to “Don’t hand over weapons to Russia” and “help put pressure on Russia to obviously never use [armas] chemical or nuclear, and to stop this aggression before a negotiation”.

China has been seeking for days to play a mediating role in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

In its 12-point document released on Friday, the first anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops, China clearly opposes any use of nuclear weapons.
