NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has assured that “no one is attacking Russia” and regrets that Russian President Vladimir Putin “is preparing for more war” one year after starting the invasion of Ukraine.
“No one is attacking Russia. Russia is the aggressor, Ukraine is the victim of aggression,” Stoltenberg assured in a statement to the press together with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, and the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmitro Kuleba.
Regarding Putin’s announcement of the suspension of Russia’s compliance with New START or START III, the last nuclear disarmament treaty still in force between Moscow and the US, Stoltenberg interprets that it means that the arms control architecture has been “dismantled”. “With today’s decision on New START, the entire arms control architecture has been dismantled,” the Norwegian politician declared at a press conference at NATO headquarters.
