A new earthquake of magnitude 6.4 shakes southeastern Turkey

A new earthquake magnitude 6.4 has shaken this Monday the Turkish province of Hatay, one of the most affected by the earthquakes of February 6 that have left at least 41,000 dead.
The Turkish authorities have warned the population to stay away from the coast in that province, since the water level could rise half a meter. AFAD, the Turkish emergency agency, has asked to stay away from the water.
The tremor, with its epicenter south of the city of Antioquia, took place at 5:04 p.m. GMT (6:04 p.m., in the Basque Country), according to data from the Kandilli observatory in Istanbul, and was also felt in the states neighbors.
Numerous reporters present in Antioquia have reported that the tremor has caused panic in survivors housed in tents.
At least one already half-collapsed building has completely collapsed and debris from others have damaged parked cars, NTV reports.
Ahmet Ovgun Ercan, a prestigious geophysicist from Istanbul Technical University, has assured the HalkTV station that this earthquake, which he estimated to last for 17 secondsit is a normal phenomenon and you have anticipated that some already damaged buildings will have collapsed.
Since the earthquake on the 6th, none of the buildings in Antioquia are still habitable, but there are debris removal work teams that may have been trapped by a collapse.
The AFAD national emergency center, which locates the epicenter of the earthquake in the neighborhood of Defne in Antioquia itself, speaks of a second aftershock of magnitude 5.8 with epicenter in Samandag.
