More than 114,834 people were rescued from the rubble in Turkey after the earthquakes. According to the Anadolu agency, this was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to him, the death toll exceeded 41.1 thousand people.
The head of the Department of Disaster and Emergency Management, Yunus Sezer, said that search and rescue operations have been completed in all provinces of Turkey, with the exception of the southern province of Hatay. There, they are looking for survivors under the rubble of 15 buildings.
As a result of earthquakes, 118,000 residential buildings have been destroyed or seriously damaged and are subject to demolition, Erdogan said. Temporary housing was provided by 684 thousand citizens.
Since March, more than 136 thousand new houses will be built in the provinces of Hatay, Kahramanmarash, Adiyaman, Gaziantep, Elazig, Adan and Kilis. Erdogan stressed that they are designed taking into account the geological structure and the factor of earthquakes. “We are striving, if possible, to move settlements from lowlands to mountainous areas in order to prevent disasters associated with soil deformation,” the president added.
