The Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, met this Saturday with a delegation of US congressmen headed by the Democrat James McGovern with the will to improve bilateral relations, as expressed by the president.

“I received a delegation from the United States Congress chaired by James McGovern. We addressed our differences and issues of common interest. The shared will to improve bilateral relations was ratified. I expressed the need to put an end to measures that harm the Cuban population,” Díaz-Canel has written on Twitter.

James McGovern chairs the US House of Representatives Rules committee and has been accompanied on his visit by his colleagues and fellow party members Mark Pocan and Troy Carter, as detailed by the Cuban Foreign Ministry through the same social network.

The president of the National Assembly of Popular Power of Cuba, Stephen Lazo, has also met with congressmen. According to ‘Diario Las Américas’, McGovern stated at the meeting that they want to “work to tear down the walls, to have a more mature and constructive relationship, for the benefit of the peoples of Cuba and the United States.”

However, none of the three American politicians has made a publication about it on their social networks.
