MacRumors: Apple is the only smartphone maker to increase shipments
Apple became the only smartphone manufacturer to increase device shipments in the first quarter of 2022. It is reported by MacRumors.
Media journalists analyzed the report of the analytical companies Strategy Analytics, Canalys and IDC regarding the supply of phones in January-March. After studying, the authors named the most successful smartphone manufacturer. It turned out that only Apple increased shipments in the first quarter relative to the same period last year.
The authors cited data from Canalys that showed Apple shipped 56.5 million units to the market in the first three months of the year, up eight percent from the first quarter of 2021. The company retained a 15 percent stake. The market leader, Samsung, shipped 73.7 million devices, but shipments fell by four percent.
Apple said that in the first quarter of 2022, iPhone sales were up more than five percent year-over-year. The company generated $50.6 billion in smartphone sales in three months, according to internal data.
Earlier, Canalys specialists said that the supply of smartphones in the global market in the first quarter collapsed against the background of unfavorable conditions in the world. The experts also noted that at the beginning of the year the demand for phones is traditionally not very high.
