Roskachestvo recommended checking the serial number when buying a smartphone from hand
Roskachestvo specialists gave Russians advice on what to look for when buying used equipment. This was reported on the website of the organization.
“After some Western manufacturers left the market, the secondary market began to grow and gain popularity,” the authors noted. Experts said that there is a risk of buying a used gadget from a scammer. Before buying a device from hand, Roskachestvo experts advised checking the seller’s profile on the site with ads: “Study the reviews about the seller, see what he sold before.” It is desirable that the photos of the device are “live”.

It is also recommended to request technical information about the gadget in order to check it against databases on the Internet: “For example, for Apple devices, this is the serial number and IMEI number.” The authors said that before buying a particular model, you need to know exactly how it looks: “If you don’t know what the desired gadget is, then it will be very easy for a fraudster to slip you a Chinese fake or a similar model instead of the original.”
Before buying small-sized electronics, experts advised to arrange a meeting with the seller in a convenient place, ask to fully charge the device and prepare it for work. You also need to make a list of items that need to be checked – charging, GPS, Wi-Fi, SIM card slots, cameras, and more. In addition, it is worth evaluating the gadget visually.
“Buying used appliances and electronics is always a risk. There is no 100% guarantee of checking the performance of a gadget or device, ”the experts summed up.
At the end of March, Roskachestvo assessed the likelihood of remote shutdown of Russian users’ smartphones. “[Производители устройств] can do it, and it will not depend on whether you updated your smartphone or not, ”the experts noted.
