Google and Allegro hit Russia. We will not buy Russian products in Poland

There is no longer a day when more companies would not announce a withdrawal from Russia or a suspension of operations in that country. The Russians are thus almost completely cut off from the products, services and technologies of the Western world (and not only).

Sales have been suspended, for example by Apple, Samsung, Microsoft (including Windows, Office or Xbox), Sony (PlayStation), Nintendo, Intel, AMD or Amazon (ban on shipping goods to Russia and cutting off Prime Video). And these are just some of the tech companies that responded to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is hard to find a large, well-known Western company that still intends to do business in the aggressor’s country.

The war in Ukraine. Allegro bans the sale of Russian products

Now Allegro has informed about its step. As we read in the e-mail sent by Allegro to its users, the platform will be banned from selling products of Russian and Belarusian brands. Even if the seller tries to list such an item despite the ban, the algorithm is supposed to recognize it and prevent listing it.

The ban applies to both sales on and Allegro locally and it will apply from March 14. Bids posted until then will not be removed from the platform, but the company encourages sellers to end the sale of such products themselves.

Allegro explains directly that the company does not want to support the Russian and Belarusian economy. The company had previously blocked the accounts of all sellers in these two countries.

Google: Russians won’t buy Android apps

Google also has its response to the Russian invasion. The American giant announced that in the coming days the Russians will lose the ability to buy Android smartphone applications from Google Play. They will also not be able to make any other transactions from within this service. However, they will still be able to download free applications from the store.

This, of course, is another of the many consequences of many Russian banks being cut off from the SWIFT system. Russian smartphone users with Google OS have been having big problems with paying the application fees for some time. Google explains that it was for this reason that it decided to block access to paid games and programs.

Earlier, Google cut off Russian YouTubers from earning money on the platform. Currently, users from Russia cannot benefit from, among others advertising profits, and viewers cannot financially support Russian channels.

The Russian war against Ukraine continues. There is information about houses destroyed, wounded and killed. Needs are increasing hour by hour. That is why Gazeta.pl joins forces with the Polish Center for International Aid (PCPM) Foundation to support humanitarian aid for Ukrainians and Ukrainians.
